Future development of band

Niall feels that having the two sessions is working well. There are 9 juniors and they have been working hard learning their tunes. Niall would like all members to re-audition for the band.

Drumming- Niall spoke to Norman Bolton regarding disclosure for Alastair and funding to pay him for 2 hours tuition per week. It has been suggested that the drumming group could also be split into juniors and seniors with a short time all together at each session. Niall spoke about the need to recruit some younger members and will place an advert in the Free Press for this.

There will be a week long residential piping and drumming course taking place at Achiltibuie in the 1st week of the Easter holidays for those over 12 years. Niall feels it would be of great benefit to the pipe band members. The cost would be £350 approx. but Niall suggested that the band could help fund places. Unfortunately it is the same week as the Feis in Plockton. There would be a chance to take the PDQB exams at the end.

Eilean Donan Piping Competition Cup-

Niall will purchase a new cup to replace the one missing.

Trip away

Hopefully this will be possible next year. Niall is also keen for the band to have the opportunity to perform further away.

Outfits and Equipment

He would like to order 9 small kilts to enable the younger members to perform with the band.

Niall to order some new drums which will cost approx £700/£800 each.

Sabhal Mor Ostaig – Drumming and piping course to take place on the weekend of 20th/21st March.

Thank-you letters-

Ongoing as donations come in.

AOCB

Meet-o-matic was very successful and will continue. Please could all band members use this to indicate their attendance at functions.

Donald MacLennan has very kindly volunteered to make name tags for the bands outfits!

No word of the donation yet from Fraser McIntosh. Teens will speak to him.

Date of next meeting- Monday 15th March
